Tell Us About Yourself ...

First and foremost I am “Mommy”. As my lack of housekeeping skills on any given day will attest. I figure my kids will remember me playing with them more than they will remember a clean house. Besides, there’s plenty of time to clean when they get older and can help!

My passion, though, is travel and we try to do as much as we can. Sometimes our travels may not take us far from home, other times they may take us half way around the world. I also love to try new products – especially those that will keep the kids entertained in transit.

Of course even a Mommy has to have her hobbies. Mine are scrapbooking and cooking. Once in a while I’ll even sew!

I am Iowa born and raised – a farm girl from the southwestern part of the state. My family and I live the American dream in a suburb of Des Moines. I can be contacted at traveler(at)havekidwilltravel(dot)com.

My husband (Doug) and I have two daughters, Brenna and Caelan. We're a pretty typical family- busy all the time with no signs of slowing down. We are currently working on paying off all our debt while still experiencing life "on the cheap".

Things to Do In Iowa This Weekend: May 1-3, 2009

April showers bring May flowers... Or so the saying goes. I certainly hope May brings less rain! Our creek is swollen and eating away more of our yard... Ugh... On to happier things!

Things to Do in Iowa this Weekend: April 24-26, 2009

Can I just begin by saying how HAPPY I am to be home in Iowa? Nine weeks south of Boston was nice, living steps from the ocean was beautiful and the historical significance of the area was amazing. But returning home to our larger (and less expensive) house, shopping in stores that don't charge over $5 for a pound of ground beef and just being surrounded by the green of Iowa, well, let me just throw this out: "Is this Heaven? Things to Do In Iowa This Weekend: April 3-5, 2009

I'm still waiting for spring to arrive... How about you? I've found quite a few spring themed activities for this weekend to, hopefully, hasten it along.

Nothing says "spring" like an Easter Egg Hunt! Pioneer Ridge Nature Center (Ottumwa) has a hunt for children ages 3-12 on Saturday beginning at 1pm. If you're interested in helping before hand you are asked to call ANNETTE AT PRNC 682-3091.

Things to Do In Iowa This Weekend: March 20-22, 2009

Spring arrives Friday, March 20! What do you have planned? Out here in Massachusetts we are planning a visit to Salem on Saturday and a day-long tour of Boston (on a Hop on Hop off bus) Sunday. Looking at the weekend forecast I see rain all weekend long. Let's see what I can find to keep you occupied...
